Es ist wieder so weit.
Aus meinem Second Home Malaysia, zum “Heimaturlaub” nach Nürnberg und München.
Kinder und Enkelkinder angucken, Weihnachten im Winter verbringen. Wir freuen uns schon, aber die Anreise mit rund 20 Stunden insgesamt von Kuala Lumpur über Istanbul nach Nürnberg schlaucht. Ich merke, dass ich keine 60 mehr bin!
Oft werde ich gefragt ob ich Deutschland vermisse. Nicht wirklich, die Kids natürlich schon sehr. Aber das kalte Deutschland – ich weiß nicht – wir haben uns doch schon ganz schön entfernt.
Wir verfolgen die Situation in Europa und Deutschland natürlich rund um die Uhr, und vieles erschreckt uns. Das sich so viel in ca. 10 Jahre zum Negativen ändert, hätte ich niemals gedacht. Ursprünglich hatten wir vor nach 10 Jahren Malaysia wieder 10 Jahre nach Deutschland zurückzukehren. Aber ehrlich, derzeit eher nicht.
Klar vieles ist angenehmer in Deutschland, die soziale Sicherheit, das Gesundheitswesen, der Nah- und Fernverkehr, die sauberen Städte, die große Auswahl an gutem deutschen Bier und viele andere mehr.
Hier in Malaysia ist alles einwenig anders. Aber trotzdem die Muslims in der Mehrheit sind, Bier teuer ist, Schlaglöcher auf den Straßen manchmal ein Schleudertrauma bewirken, alles ein bisschen lauter ist. der Doktor nach jeder Behandlung Cash will, Busstationen zwar vorhanden sind, aber wann der Bus kommt, ist Glücksache.
Aber trotzdem ist das Leben einfacher, es leben Chinese, Malays, Indian und Langnasen friedlich nebeneinander/miteinander (also meistens) Ich sehe die Unterschiede nicht mehr.
Essen gehen ist kein Event bei dem man danach eine leere Geldbörse hat. OK, wir haben keine Jahreszeiten, es ist immer warm bis heiß und schwül, am Nachmittag regnet es wie aus Eimern immer so circa eine bis 2 Stunden.
Fazit:
Es lässt sich hier ganz gut leben – und mit meiner kleinen deutschen Rente sogar sehr gut!

It's that time again.
From my second home in Malaysia, on a ‘home holiday’ to Nuremberg and Munich.
Seeing the children and grandchildren, spending Christmas in winter. We're looking forward to it, but the 20-hour journey from Kuala Lumpur via Istanbul to Nuremberg is exhausting. I realise that I'm no longer 60
People often ask me if I miss Germany. Not really, the kids do of course. But the cold Germany - I don't know - we've really grown apart.
We follow the situation in Europe and Germany around the clock, of course, and a lot of things scare us. I would never have thought that so much would change for the worse in about 10 years. Originally we had planned to return to Germany for 10 years after 10 years in Malaysia. But honestly, not at the moment.
Of course, many things are more pleasant in Germany, the social security, the healthcare system, the local and long-distance transport, the clean cities, the large selection of good German beer and many more.
Everything is a little different here in Malaysia. But despite the fact that Muslims are in the majority, beer is expensive, potholes on the roads sometimes cause whiplash, everything is a bit louder. The doctor wants cash after every treatment, bus stations are available, but when the bus arrives is a matter of luck.
Nevertheless, life is easier, Chinese, Malays, Indians and long-noses live peacefully side by side (most of the time).
Eating out is not an event where you have an empty wallet afterwards. OK, we don't have seasons, it's always warm to hot and humid, in the afternoon it always rains like buckets for about one to two hours.
Conclusion:
It's a good place to live - and with my small German pension it's even very good!
